People-Pleasing & Perfectionism
People-pleasing and perfectionism can come in many forms and lead to many different physical and emotional symptoms. Oftentimes, these behaviors become engrained in us through early experiences of neglect, abuse, or just living in a household where we are more celebrated for what we do rather than who we are. We learn that achievement keeps us safe. On a larger societal level, we are taught that we must be productive to be worthwhile- which only makes things worse.

People-pleasing and perfectionism can look like:
-
Overworking
-
Overexercise and disordered eating
-
Filling up your calendar with obligations to others

...and can feel like:
-
Constant anxiety
-
A very loud and harsh inner critic
-
Feelings of emptiness
-
Being unsure of your own emotions
-
Chronic, undiagnosable pain

I help you recognize and overcome these patterns through:
-
Discovering the cause of these behaviors, rooted in your own unique story
-
Giving you the tools to attune to yourself
-
Teaching boundary-setting skills

....so that you can:
-
Make choices based on your actual capacity
-
Build more authentic, reciprocal relationships
-
Develop a loving relationship with yourself
-
Re-discover joy, creativity and play
